about
Work With Me
Luther Steele is a Texan artist based out of the Austin area. Growing up, Luke was heavily involved in live theatre, acting in several productions at school, and at camps at Texas State University. This would eventually lead to a Best Actor award at the State UIL meet in 2016, and a hefty scholarship to Texas A&M University — Corpus Christi in 2017, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts.
While at college, Luke discovered his love of directing, and organized an acclaimed production of Annie Baker’s The Aliens for his first outing. In subsequent productions, Luke would utilize projections and filmed material to blend the world of cinema and live theatre. Luke’s first love was film, and although he had always wanted to act, he found his true passion and calling was writing and directing his own films.
Luke’s educational exploration of film as a medium while at university culminated in the short Photographs in 2019, in which a young man is blackmailed by a series of polaroids taken of him from inside his own home, after he had posted revenge-porn of a previous romantic partner. After graduation, Luke taught high school theatre for a few years, where he directed adaptations of Journey to the West and Gormenghast for competition. In 2022, he directed the improvisational silent film The Shakes, about a woman struggling with alcoholism. In late 2023, Luke began pre-production for The Dredging of Flay-Woman Crick, a feature-length folk horror film. Dredging completed primary photography in June 2025, and will premiere Summer 2026.
Luke has also dabbled in Social Media — creating film criticism videos on his YouTube channel and the podcast The Class-Act Podcast wherein Luke and his life-partner and artist Amber Thomas read classic literature and react in real-time.
